The Indians are exporting cars and light delivery vehicles to South Africa now under the name of TaTa, but l have not seen any in the UK

TaTa dealer near Leeds.look crap but cheap.the last car we exported to India was the Morris Oxford in 1960 so guess they have the last laugh now..Unless they send us some elephants to ride on.

Cars in India are not only cheap, but they run very well, are maintained to a high standard, and run for years.

My local bus was built in 1942, and still does about 20 round trips of 14 kms a day. Could British public transport provide the same service.

A lot of hype about India being crap, if thats the case, why do so many brits come here to stay, or to holiday.

Rover imported one into the UK under the CityRover badge. It was supposed to compete with the Daewoo Matiz and VW Lupo. There is one near where l live and all l can say is I'd prefer the Daewoo. Or a shoebox with wheels.

TaTa make things that appear to based on Lada designs from the 70 is and 80's. Never been in one, never want to.

You could still probably buy a brand new CityRover, which is a Tata Indica with slight differences. You can also buy the Hindustan Ambassador, which is basically the Morris Oxford from the late 1950s. Hindustan also made the Contessa, which was based on the 1967-72 Vauxhall Victor FD. The Ambassadors are fitted with Isuzu engines and 5 speed gearboxes, and are well equipped for today is traffic.
